We also receive aggregated sales and financial reports from Apple (for example units, proceeds and country by product), which do not identify you. The Keep the Sauce app does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. If you choose to share crash reports or diagnostics with developers through your device settings, Apple or Google may provide them to us.

We do not ask for precise location, contacts, health or biometric data. Please do not put sensitive information (for example detailed health information) in recipes or notes. If you do, it is stored only to provide the Services to you.

How we use information

  • To provide the Services: sign-in, syncing your recipe box across devices, household sharing, share links, web access, importing recipes from websites, meal planning and grocery lists, and backups.
  • To verify purchases and subscriptions and unlock the features you paid for.
  • To send service emails, such as sign-in codes and important account notices. We do not send marketing emails without your consent.
  • To respond to support and feature requests.
  • To keep the Services secure, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms, and comply with law.
  • To understand and improve the Services using aggregated, de-identified information.

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are: performance of our contract with you (providing the Services), our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, improving the Services), compliance with legal obligations (for example tax records), and your consent where we ask for it (which you may withdraw at any time).

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising. We share information only:

  • With people you choose: members of your household, and anyone who has a share link you created.
  • With Apple and Google, to sign you in (if you choose them) and to process and verify purchases.
  • With service providers that help us run the Services, such as data-center and infrastructure providers, under confidentiality and data-protection obligations. Our application servers, database and photo storage are operated by us in the United States.
  • With recipe websites, in a limited way: when you import a recipe, our servers request that page from the website, and the site sees our server’s request, not your account details.
  • For legal reasons: to comply with law, legal process or lawful government requests, or to protect the rights, property or safety of MiRa Ventures, our users or others.
  • In a business transfer: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.

Web fonts

keepthesauce.com loads typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google’s servers (which see your IP address) when you visit that site. miraventures.app serves its own fonts and does not.

Cookies

Our websites use only strictly necessary cookies (for example to keep you signed in to your account on keepthesauce.com). See our Cookie Notice.

Retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, and then:

  • Account deletion: your account is deleted right away from our live database, as described below.
  • Backups: database backups are kept for up to 14 days, and then overwritten. Deleted data may remain in a backup until it rolls off.
  • Purchase and transaction records: kept as long as needed for tax, accounting, fraud prevention and legal purposes (generally up to 7 years). After account deletion they are no longer linked to your account.
  • Server and security logs: kept only as long as reasonably needed for security, troubleshooting and investigating abuse.

Deletion

You can delete your account at any time in the app or at keepthesauce.com (see Account & Data Deletion). When you delete your account, we delete your profile, sign-in identities, sessions and personal ratings. Households you own with no other members are deleted along with their recipes, photos and lists. If other people are members of a household you own, ownership passes to another member and the shared household content stays with them. Notes you wrote in a shared household remain with that household without your name attached.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • know what personal information we have about you and get a copy of it in a portable format;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • delete your information;
  • object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent;
  • opt out of sale, sharing for targeted advertising or profiling (we do not do any of these);
  • appeal our decision about your request; and
  • complain to a data-protection authority (for example in the EU or UK).

These include rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended), the privacy laws of Washington, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Oregon, Texas and other U.S. states, and the GDPR and UK GDPR. We extend these core rights to all users, wherever you live. To make a request, email michael@innoscale.net from the address on your account. We will verify your identity (usually by confirming control of that email) and respond within the time the law requires (generally 30 to 45 days). You may use an authorized agent where the law allows. To appeal a decision, reply with “Appeal” in the subject line. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

California notice. In the last 12 months we collected the categories of personal information listed in the table above (identifiers, commercial information such as purchase status, internet or network activity such as IP address, and user content) for the business purposes described in this policy. We disclosed identifiers and commercial information to service providers and to Apple or Google for those purposes. We have not sold or shared personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing personal information of consumers under 16. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.

Washington consumer health data. The Services are not designed to collect “consumer health data” under Washington’s My Health My Data Act. If you choose to note dietary needs or allergies in a recipe, that content is used only to provide the Services to you, is never sold, and can be deleted at any time.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed sign-in codes and session tokens, access controls, and regular backups. However, no method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You use the Services at your own risk, and you are responsible for keeping your devices and sign-in methods secure. If we learn of a security breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.

Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. Teens 13 and older may use the Services with a parent or guardian’s involvement, for example as part of a family household.

International users

We are based in the United States, and the Services are operated from the United States. If you use the Services from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to, stored and processed in the U.S., where data-protection laws may differ from those where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. The “Last updated” date shows when this policy last changed.
